Cheap Comfortable Couches
The couch is the main focal point of a room. It must be sturdy and comfortable, while also looking stylish. Finding a sofa that has all three qualities isn't easy if your budget is limited.
We consulted two interior designers to help us choose the most comfortable couches that are affordable and will last for years.

1. IKEA Sofa
If you're seeking a low-profile sofa that feels solid and sturdy this is an excellent choice. The sofa is soft, comfortable and comfy it's easy to imagine a whole family snuggling up on it (it even has an armchair version). This sofa can also be incorporated into a variety of decor styles and would look great with just about any color of leather or fabric (though if you're going for something more bold you can always put on a luxurious cover from Comfort Works).
The sofa itself isn't as stylish as IKEA's more modern designs, but it does have an elegant look that is comparable to the more expensive rivals. The low banana-shaped armrests and large cushions give the sofa a classic yet stylish look. It's also incredibly affordable and is available in a variety of upholstery options, including both leather and fabric.
What I find appealing about the IKEA website:
IKEA offers a wealth of information right on their homepage I love the fact that they have everything on the front page. Prices and names appear right up front. They also have dimensions to help you determine whether the furniture is appropriate for your space. They also clearly explain the materials and construction which is a nice feature. They make use of a mix of solid wood, plywood, and particleboard in a lot of their frames, which helps reduce costs while maintaining the strength. They also specify whether the cushion filling is feathers or foam which can affect the firmness of a sofa. They could go a bit further and show how the various components are constructed however they do a great job.
2. World Market Brynn Feather-Filled Loveseat
The global ambiance of World Market's website can be a bit overwhelming. There's plenty of visual stimulation and information to process, particularly when you're focusing on finding a new sofa.
Fortunately, the site makes it easy to focus on furniture thanks to an exclusive "Furniture" section in the navigation bar at the top which directs you to couches. From there, special info can search by upholstery material, style and color.
Many World Market sofas are made using performance fabrics that are resistant to staining, which is great for families with children or pets. The company also does an excellent job of offering a variety of cushion comforts (foam vs. fiberfill, for instance) to meet the needs of any person and budget.
One thing to remember is that most World Market sofas require assembly. This can be a good or a negative thing, based on your ability. The website of the brand shows the sofas from different angles, as well as close-ups of details like stitching and legs. You can see how your sofa will look in your home, before you purchase. The website is also transparent when it comes to displaying information about delivery. It will tell you the time it will take for the sofa to arrive at your home. In-stock items usually be delivered within a few days, and you can also pick it up at the nearest store for faster delivery. The site accepts major credit cards but does not offer financing through third-party companies like Affirm or Klarna. This is a disappointment for those who want to spread their payments. But, keep an eye on promotional offers that may include interest-free or deferred for a certain period.
3. Capasa Sofa
This sofa comes in a khaki green color and is described by Good Housekeeping as a "truly amazing duplicate" of the cloud couch. It is easy to put together and has deep seating. This sofa is also affordable. Be aware that cushions that do not have a core could sag over time. Morse recommends looking for cushions with feathers or fiber wrapped around the foam core.
Pro - feather/feather stuffings are luxurious, soft and give the sensation of a soft touch. They're also breathable and help with the regulation of temperature. Cons - They're expensive and can cause allergies in some people. Plus, they may need to be fluffed frequently to keep their shape.
4. Maxwell Ryan Co Created Loveseat
A sofa is where you will spend most of your time watching Netflix and chilling. It is often one of the pricier pieces of furniture in your home. It's worth it to invest in a sofa you love and are able to afford.
Burrow, founded by Apartment Therapy founder Maxwell Ryan with backing from the prestigious accelerator Y Combinator aims to become the Ikea of sofas that fold. The company sells three versions of the couch (a chair or a loveseat, as well as a sectional) in varying widths. The design is reminiscent of traditional European designs, but is more modern and minimalist because of the slimmer frame rails and tapered spool legs.
The primary selling feature is that it folds flat for storage. But the true game changer is that, unlike most furniture that folds, this one can be assembled by a single person without tools in about 20 minutes. Burrow wants you to be aware that if buy their sofa it will be able to fit in your space and last 10 or 20 years. It's a significant improvement from the disposable Ikea model.
5. Goop Sofa
Gwyneth Paltrow may be best known for her coveted sunscreen and bone broth, but her contemporary lifestyle brand goop is expanding its horizons with an impressive furniture line. The goop collection of the actor CB2 is a series of furniture and kitchenware that blends the refined style found in Paltrow's sleek home with the North American retailer's millennial-focused approach to design.
The collection, which launched on the Goop website today, features a range of fashionable and affordable sofas and loveseats. One of the most distinctive pieces is the goop sofa which has a mod style and a white boucle-like fabric that is sure to enhance any neutral living space. The durable fabric has a high rub rate that means it's more resistant to wear and tear, and will retain its good looks in time.
For the firmness, the collection includes couches with soft and medium levels of support. The goop sofa falls in the latter category, providing plenty of comfort while also encouraging the healthy posture. The seat height and cushion filling help ensure the sofa feels supportive without sagging with time.
The Goop collection also has sections that are modular, and can be arranged to fit any space. A tuxedo couch in white or black with three seats and two side tables is one of the most versatile options. This is a fantastic option for families since it can hold a lot of people without looking overcrowded. Another option that is popular is a mid-century modern style that's both elegant and casual with a sleek silhouette and a sustainable wood frame.
